Celebrating World Vegan Day

World Vegan Day is celebrated every year on November 1st. It is to build awareness about being Vegan and to encourage people to explore and follow the Vegan lifestyle. The day is dedicated to the practice of being kind to animals, choosing cruelty-free, sustainable and ethical products and not eating and using any products or byproducts that is made from an animal.

What does being Vegan mean?

Being Vegan or Veganism means to only consume food and buy products that are plant-based and ethical. No animal, fish & crustacean products or byproducts are consumed or used for any reason including alcohol, food, clothing, personal body products, make-up, cleaning and household products. For some Vegans, this also applies to all creatures including bugs, bees and bee byproducts such as honey.

Dietary Choices for Vegans

Vegans eat only a plant-based diet. As a vegan, it’s important to include a range of organic fresh produce, fruits, vegetables, grains, beans, fermented foods and pulses. This will ensure that essential nutrients and proteins will be available to support the many processes that the body needs on a daily basis.
