A New Way to Gently Exfoliate

By Bronwyn Potts, Flannerys Skincare Specialist

It is a natural thing that our skin thickens with age; it does this in order to protect itself from the harsh environment. A lot of our customers are currently using face scrubs and exfoliants which are all applied in a vigorous attempt to remove dead skin cells and soften the skin. We are then finding that the skin can get irritated by this and it retaliates in the only way it knows, by growing an extra layer of thicker skin in order to protect itself, along with other various symptoms such as dry skin, rashes and break outs.

Here’s what’s going on. When we harshly scrub our face we are literally taking off our protective shield and exposing fresh young skin, which is mostly under-developed and not ready for the harshness of the world. This alters the PH of our skin by exposing it to all sorts of traumas.

Exfoliating can be amazing for your skin if it is done correctly and you use the right products that are not extremely harsh on your face.

MooGoo has just launched its new product called Gentle Exfoliating Powder, designed to exfoliate and cleanse at the same time, this everyday facial exfoliant will help to buff away dead tissue skin cells without the aggravation. It is a powder that you shake in the palm of your hand and add a little water, then rub your hands together, apply to the face and rinse off for squeaky clean, smooth skin. The formula is so gently that you can use it every day.

Based on plant derived enzymes that are attracted to oil and includes a rice bran powder which is a very delicate form of exfoliation and contains anti-oxidant rich proteins. It also includes a calculated level of plant derived Salicylic acid (BHA) a well known ingredient in removing the outer dead layer of skin.

This product may provide that elusive solution to fresher younger skin, provided we apply some extra layers of protection, and they are: a hydrosol, a serum, a moisturiser and either sunscreen and/or foundation. The more layers added to the face after exfoliation means more protection to the skin.

I give this product the thumbs up on ingredients and effectiveness. Depending on your skin type you can use it daily however, for a dryer more mature skin type like mine try it weekly.
