Quick smoothie recipe

As a busy mum on the run I love this smoothie recipe that I can whip up super quickly and race out the door with. Not only do I devour it and it keeps me sustained, my 4-year-old daughter loves it. I can head to work knowing that we have both had a dose of super powerful nutrients to keep us going. It still surprises me that one glass of home-made smoothie can offer so much nourishment to the body and mind.  It honestly feels like a hug to the body.

Ingredients

2 ½ cups of your choice of milk (I use rice milk)

1 desert spoon of maple syrup

1 desert spoon of cacao

3 desert spoons of Hemp Protein (this offers the most amazing creamy flavour, I use Hemp Protein Australia)

1 cup of blueberries or 1 frozen banana

1 tsp of spirulina (I use Synergy Spirulina, you can’t even taste this in the smoothie and it offers such an amazing source of extra protein and iron)

If I am feeling a little on the naughty side I add a scoop of Coyo Salted Caramel Ice Cream

Method

  • 1. Put all into a blender and whizz it up to make a creamy delicious chocolatey smoothie.

  • 2. HOT TIP If we are feeling run down I always add in a teaspoon of vitamin C powder and probiotic powder. My biggest tip is to have all of your ingredients in a basket in the cupboard so you can grab it out and put it all in a blender and whizz it up. Pour into your glass jar and take it on the run.
