How to cook the best fluffy Quinoa
Quinoa (pronounced Keen-wah) is a highly nutritious, high-protein, gluten-free grain. It was originally cultivated on the steep slopes of the Andes mountains in Peru and Bolivia. It comes in 3 varieties, white or sweet, red, and black.
Quinoa has a lovely fluffy texture with a slightly nutty flavour.
Follow these 5 steps to make perfect fluffy quinoa:
Rinse
Rinse 1 cup of quinoa well under cold water in a fine strainer until the water is clear.
Boil
Combine the washed quinoa with 1 1/2 cups water or broth in a pot. Bring to a rolling boil.
Simmer
Lower the heat and cook with a lid on for 15 minutes or until all the water has absorbed.
Rest
Take off the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes with the lid still on.
Fluff
Fluff up the quinoa lightly with a fork. Enjoy in a variety of recipes.
